AD HOC Impro Group is a Krakow-based improvisational theatre ensemble founded in October 2008 as one of Poland's first groups dedicated to theatrical and comedy improvisation. The group performs a repertoire of short-form and long-form work across Polish stages and international festivals, and is the founding organizer of ImproFest, Poland's largest improv festival.
History
AD HOC was established in October 2008 in Krakow, emerging in a period when improv comedy was largely unknown in Poland. The group developed signature shows including Wieczor Komedii Improwizowanej (Evening of Improvised Comedy), a short-form showcase built from live audience suggestions, and The Chuck Menton Show, a long-form hybrid format. In November 2010, the group co-founded ImproFest, Poland's International Cabaret Improvisation Festival, created in partnership with the PAKA Association under the leadership of Alan Pakosz; the festival has since grown into an annual Krakow fixture performed in Polish and English. Over more than a decade, AD HOC has conducted hundreds of hours of performances and workshops throughout Poland and trained with instructors from the United Kingdom, United States, Czech Republic, Switzerland, France, Slovenia, the Netherlands, and Spain.
Artistic Identity
AD HOC works at the intersection of cabaret and theatrical improvisation, drawing on both short and long-form traditions while maintaining a strong emphasis on audience co-creation. The group's Krakow base situates it within a city with deep cabaret heritage, and its festival work has made it a structural pillar of the Polish improv scene.
