Colectivo Teatral Mamut is a Santiago improv theatre company and school founded in 2004, considered one of Chile's pioneering theatrical improvisation groups and regular international touring company.

History

Colectivo Teatral Mamut was founded in Santiago in 2004 by Monica Moya and Sergio Dominguez, establishing it as one of the earliest dedicated improv theatre companies in Chile. The founders adopted Keith Johnstone's methodology as their primary pedagogical framework, creating a school and performance company grounded in Theatresports and related formats. Over two decades Mamut developed an international touring programme, performing in Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Germany, and Canada, giving Chilean improv a sustained presence in the international circuit.

Artistic Identity

Colectivo Teatral Mamut works from a Keith Johnstone methodological foundation, applying Theatresports structures and status-based pedagogy to both its school curriculum and its touring performance repertoire.

Legacy

One of Chile's earliest improv companies, Mamut established an internationally active Chilean improv presence and demonstrated through sustained touring that South American improv companies could maintain connections to the global circuit.
