Free Birds Improv Theater
Free Birds Improv Theater is a Chiang Mai community improv group founded in 2016 with around twenty performers, holding weekly workshops open to all ages and backgrounds.
History
Free Birds Improv Theater was founded in Chiang Mai in February 2016, creating a community-centred improv organisation in one of Thailand's major cultural cities outside Bangkok. The group built a programme around weekly workshops accessible to participants of all ages and backgrounds, deliberately lowering barriers to participation. With around twenty performers, Free Birds maintained a working ensemble size that supported regular community events while remaining accessible and informally structured.
Artistic Identity
Free Birds prioritises accessibility and community participation, running open workshops that welcome all ages and backgrounds and building improv community through regular practice rather than auditioned performance.
