Munich-based bilingual improv platform co-founded by Jodi Pfleghar offering shows, courses, and corporate workshops in English and German. Pfleghar also serves as Artistic Director of Bake This, Munich's dedicated English-language improv ensemble, and as Assistant Director of Improvember, Munich's international improv festival.

History

ImproMunichorn was co-founded by Jodi Pfleghar, an American-born improviser and teacher who relocated to Munich. The platform operates in partnership with Bake This, which was founded in 2011 and named after its original rehearsal space in a small bakery, serving as Munich's corporate improv school. Pfleghar also helps organise Improvember, Munich's annual international improv festival.

Teaching faculty includes Tobias Zettelmeier (managing director of Buhnenpolka Improvisationstheater), Elizabeth Goetze (trained at Second City and iO in Chicago), Karin Ertl (who founded Die Spieldosen in 2012), and several instructors with formal theatre training. International guest instructors regularly participate.

Corporate clients have included Allianz, the UN World Food Programme, Stadt Munchen, the Max Planck Institute, and TEDxTUM.

Artistic Identity

ImproMunichorn occupies a bilingual niche in the Munich improv scene, delivering short-form, long-form, musical improv, and business improv in both English and German. The platform's workshop design emphasises connection, communication, and team building. Programs range from weekly classes through weekend workshops in specific styles (Chicago-style improv, organic improv, character work) to corporate programs and the SummerMadness Improv Marathon.
