Improv Ísland

Improv Island was founded in Reykjavik in 2015 by artistic director Dora Johannsdottir, establishing long-form improv as a regular performance practice in Iceland. The company secured a weekly performance slot at Tjarnarbio, one of Reykjavik's established independent theatre venues, providing a stable and visible home for English-language improv in the country. As Iceland's only long-form improv theatre, Improv Island has maintained singular responsibility for representing the form on the Icelandic performance landscape.

Improv Island focuses exclusively on long-form improvisation, performing weekly English-language shows at an established Reykjavik venue and sustaining Iceland's entire dedicated long-form improv programme.

As Iceland's founding long-form improv company, Improv Island has maintained continuous theatrical improvisation programming in Reykjavik since 2015.
