A Dublin-based improv school founded by Neil Curran, with a corporate training arm serving clients including Facebook and Google. Curran also founded Improv Fest Ireland in 2013, Ireland's first festival dedicated solely to improvisation.

History

Neil Curran founded Lower the Tone as his Dublin-based improv school after training as an improviser in the UK and the United States. The school offers multi-level courses (Level 1 through Level 4). In 2013 Curran founded Improv Fest Ireland, Ireland's first festival dedicated solely to improvisation, launching at the Teacher's Club Theatre in Dublin. Curran also co-founded No Drama Theatre. The corporate training arm has worked with clients including Facebook and Google. Curran performs a signature show, Neil +1, an improvised theatre piece starring himself and a randomly chosen audience member.

Artistic Identity

Lower the Tone combines performance-based improv training with corporate communication development, operating at the intersection of comedy training and professional development. The Level 1-4 curriculum structures the school's public offering alongside the corporate client work.
