Nairobi Improv
Nairobi Improv is one of East Africa's first dedicated improv comedy groups, founded in 2018, performing and teaching improvisation in Kenya.
History
Nairobi Improv was founded in 2018, positioning itself as one of the first organisations in East Africa dedicated specifically to improv comedy as a performance and teaching practice. The group helped establish an improv community in Nairobi at a time when the form had limited presence in the region, creating performance opportunities and training pathways for Kenyan improvisers. Nairobi Improv's founding contributed to the cluster of improv organisations that subsequently made Nairobi East Africa's most active improv city.
Artistic Identity
Nairobi Improv combines performance and teaching, using public shows to build audience familiarity with improv while training programmes develop the local practitioner base.
Legacy
As one of East Africa's earliest dedicated improv organisations, Nairobi Improv helped establish the form as a practised discipline in the region.
