Playground Improv Collective is a New Delhi-based improvisational theatre and comedy company co-founded by Baneet Chhabra, Priya Sharma, and Shivam Srivastava, operating from Playground Comedy Studio, described as Delhi's first dedicated comedy studio, located in the Saket and Hauz Khas neighbourhoods. The collective runs regular short-form improv performances and interactive comedy workshops.

History

Playground Creative House, the parent venture behind the collective, preceded the formal comedy studio launch by at least a year. The Playground Comedy Studio was launched around 2018-2019 with the aim of providing Delhi audiences a dedicated small-theatre comedy venue. Baneet Chhabra co-founded the studio alongside Priya Sharma and Shivam Srivastava. The studio has hosted daily show programming, including improv jams featuring the collective alongside visiting performers. Playground operates as both a performing ensemble and a workshop provider, offering beginner improv courses to Delhi audiences.

Artistic Identity

Playground Improv Collective performs accessible, high-energy short-form scenes, drawing on audience suggestions to build unscripted characters and situations in real time. The collective's embedding within a dedicated comedy studio rather than a general arts venue gives its work a stand-up-adjacent atmosphere, appealing to audiences drawn to both improv and mainstream comedy. Workshops extend this philosophy to participants, emphasising spontaneity and collaboration as learnable creative skills.
