Providence Improv Guild

Founding (2012)

Providence Improv Guild was founded in summer 2012 by a collective of local improvisers and educators who recognized that the Providence improv scene was scattered across disconnected troupes with inconsistent class offerings and fragmented audiences. By locating within AS220, a major Rhode Island arts nonprofit at 95 Empire Street, P.I.G. gained access to an established arts infrastructure.

Programming and Curriculum

P.I.G. presents weekly house team performances with an open-stage model designed to incubate new groups and formats. Its four-level improv curriculum focuses on Scene Support, Game, and Character. Friday and Saturday shows include improv and stand-up, serving as Providence's primary improv showcase.

Providence Improv Guild operates within the AS220 arts complex as a nonprofit dedicated to building a cohesive Providence improv community through weekly performances, a four-level class curriculum, and an open-stage policy that gives emerging groups a platform.
