The Assembly MX
The Assembly MX is a Mexico City-based English and Spanish language improv company founded in 2017, bringing Chicago-style long-form improvisation to Mexico City audiences through regular shows and structured training programs.
History
The Assembly MX was established in Mexico City in 2017 as a bilingual long-form improv company, drawing on the Chicago school of improvisation to develop a local ensemble. The company produces regular shows and offers training programs in both English and Spanish, situating itself within the Mexico City improv ecosystem that had developed from Complot Escena and El Improdromo in the early 2000s. The Assembly MX operated alongside The Assembly Mexico, a separately constituted company in the same city connected to the Toronto Assembly network.
Artistic Identity
The Assembly MX draws on Chicago long-form improv traditions, performing in both English and Spanish to serve Mexico City's bilingual urban audience. The company's bilingual operation distinguishes it from the primarily English-language improv companies that preceded it in the city.
