The Wing
The Wing was a San Francisco improvisation company formed in 1972 from The Committee's experimental workshop strand, one of three successor companies created when The Committee disbanded. Directed by Cindy Kamler, The Wing had been performing at the Savoy Tivoli on Upper Grant Avenue in North Beach when The Committee gave its final performance.
History
The Experimental Wing of The Committee had operated as a semi-independent workshop strand within The Committee before the parent company folded in 1972. When The Committee disbanded, The Wing became an independent company under Cindy Kamler's direction. The Wing was the company actively holding the stage at the Savoy Tivoli on Upper Grant Avenue in North Beach at the moment of The Committee's final performance, making it the last company standing from The Committee's immediate world. The Wing dissolved at an undetermined date following its independent period. Primary documentation beyond these archival facts has not survived in indexed public sources.
