Waffling

Unfocused, meandering dialogue that avoids making specific choices or committing to a direction. Waffling fills time without advancing the scene and often signals that a performer is waiting for inspiration rather than making bold offers. Keith Johnstone identified it as a symptom of fear of making mistakes.
